There are several methods that I have tried to fix my Garmin Vivoacitve.

Firstly you have to restart your Garmin Vivoactive 3. And also try to re-establish the connection between the Garmin device and mobile phone. Ensure your Garmin and mobile phone are in Bluetooth pairing range. Lastly, you can factory reset your Garmin device.

How to Fix Garmin Vivoactive 3 that Keeps Disconnecting from Phone? 

Restart Garmin Vivoactive and Phone

Firstly, you should restart your devices when your Garmin Vivoactive 3 is not connecting to your phone. This is quite an easy and crucial step; in this way, you can fix your Garmin connection issue. 

You can follow the steps below to restart your Garmin and mobile phone:

  1. Press and hold the main power button for 50 seconds 
  2. And release it while the Garmin Vivoactive is turning off  
  3. Press and hold the power button to turn it back on 

Restart Mobile Phone 

  1. Press and hold the power button from the side of your device
  2. Release it while the power menu appears on the screen 
  3. Tap on Restart from this menu
  4. Wait for process completion; it can take 20 to 30 seconds 

Re-Establish Connection 

Secondly, the method can also help fix the Garmin Vivoactive connectivity issue. You should re-establish the connection between your Garmin device and mobile phone. 

It would be best if you did this from your phone’s Bluetooth settings and, most importantly, from the Garmin connect app. 

Follow the steps below to do this:

Remove from Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin app on your mobile phone
  2. Tap on the menu icon
  3. Tap on Garmin devices> then on Desired devices 
  4. Then tap on the options icon 
  5. And tap on Remove 
  6. And then tap again on Remove from the confirmation message 

Remove it from the Phone’s Bluetooth 

  1. Go to the phone settings 
  2. And then tap on Bluetooth settings
  3. Tap on Paired devices 
  4. And remove Garmin Vivoactive 3 from the paired devices list 

Update Garmin Device and Phone 

The most common reason is that your Garmin Vivoacitve keeps disconnecting. You are using your watch with the old software version. 

Check it and ensure you have installed the latest software on your Garmin Vivoacitive. You must install it immediately if it runs on the older version. 

You can follow the steps below to check and install the Update: 

  1. Install Garmin connect app on your mobile
  2. Log in to your Garmin account
  3. And then connect your Garmin Vivoactive 3 to your Garmin connect app 
  4. When connected to your device, Garmin automatically sends new software updates to your Vivoacitve 3. 
  5. The Update will just be applied when you are using your Garmin watch actively 

Keep Devices In Bluetooth Range

You should ensure your Garmin connect app is also up to date. Because if you are using the oldest Garmin connect version currently, you can face connectivity issues.

You can install the Garmin app update by following the steps below:

  1. Open Play Store on your mobile phone
  2. And then tap on the profile icon from the top right corner 
  3. Tap on Management Apps & Devices
  4. Apps with Updates available will be labeled “update available.” 
  5. Then tap on Update 

Factory Reset 

In the end, if you still have the same issue, your Garmin Vivoactive 3 keeps disconnecting from the mobile phone. You should factory reset your Garmin Vivoactive to fix this issue. 

This method is not recommended, but if you are stuck on a severe problem, you have to do this. A factory reset will wipe all of your data, activity, and history. 

Ensure you have backup all of your data before doing a factory reset. In this way, you can save all your history and data.

  1. Long press on the watch screen until you will see a menu
  2. And then go to the settings
  3. Then scroll all the way down to the System 
  4. Again scroll down and tap on Reset 
  5. Then tap on Delete Data and Reset Settings option
